I have been within a few feet of some large wild mammals including dolphins, wolves, and now manatees. For me, being in the water with the manatees was a mystical, deeply spiritual experience. These creatures live in harmony with their world and seek to harm nothing. They don't need possessions - just peace. If you get the opportunity go to Florida and get in the water with these vanishing beauties don't pass it up.

I used an inexpensive waterproof camera as we were in only about 30 feet of water. I used 400 speed Fujichrome film. Next time, I'll have a better feel for aiming the clumsy camera but even a year later the photos remind me of the magic of these gentle mammals.
