“Did you ever see an unhappy horse? Did you ever see bird that had the blues? One reason why birds and horses are not unhappy is because they are not trying to impress other birds and horses.”
Dale Carnegie quotes (American lecturer, author, 1888-1955)

“A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.”
Maya Angelou quotes (American Poet, b.1928)

“Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark.” Rabindranath Tagore quotes (Indian Poet, Playwright and Essayist, Won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913, 1861-1941)

“I would rather learn from one bird how to sing than to teach 10,000 stars how not to dance.”
E. E. Cummings quotes (American poet 1894-1962)

The Great Blue Heron is a wading bird common over most of North and Central America as well as the West Indies and the Galápagos Islands. It is the largest North American heron, with a head-to-tail length of 36 to 55 inches and a wingspan of 66 to 79 inches, and a weight of 4.4 to 8 pounds.

I see them often in the lowcountry. This one I photographed near the Ravenel Bridge in April 2008. I watched it for about a half hour before my attention caused it to flee. Since then it has returned to my neighborhood in Mount Pleasant often and seems to be more comfortable with my camera.
